Sometimes one should also smile....! 🥹
A man was calling out in the market, "Take the donkey! Take the donkey for one ashrafi (gold coin)!"
The donkey was extremely weak and lean.
Coincidentally, at that very time, the king was passing by from there with his minister.
The king stopped near that donkey and asked,
"For how much are you selling it?"
Seeing a strong (wealthy) customer, the owner immediately raised the price of the donkey.
He spoke immediately,
"Your Majesty! The price is two bags of gold ashrafis."
The king was astonished.
"Such an expensive donkey? What is so special about it after all?"
The donkey owner said respectfully,
"Your Highness! Whoever sits on it, Makkah and Madinah start becoming visible to them."
The king did not believe it.
"If your words turn out to be true, we will give five bags of gold ashrafis.
But if it turns out to be a lie, your head will be chopped off."
Then he ordered the minister,
"Sit on it and tell, what is visible?"
The minister was just about to sit on the donkey when the donkey owner stopped him and spoke with contempt,
"Sir! Makkah Madinah is not visible to any sinner."
The minister was left writhing, spoke in anger,
"We are not sinners! Move aside!"
He sat down, but obviously nothing was visible.
Now he started thinking that if he told the truth, it would lead to disgrace.
Suddenly he shouted loudly,
"Subhan Allah! Ma sha Allah! Alhamdulillah! What a spiritual sight of Makkah Madinah it is!"
The king became restless.
"Move aside! Let us also see!"
And he himself sat on the donkey.
But nothing was visible to him either.
But it was necessary to maintain the veil of being a king.
With tears filling his eyes, he spoke,
"Wow my Lord! What a miracle!
My minister only reached Makkah Madinah,
I can see Heaven (Jannat) along with it too!"
As soon as the king got down, the public rushed forward,
Someone started touching the donkey,
Someone started kissing it,
Someone started cutting its hair to keep as a sacred blessing (tabarruk).
Sometimes some people show us green pastures (make false promises) just like this, has it ever happened with you? 🤭🫣
