At Darul Uloom Karachi, we had a kind teacher who taught Qutbi and taught the principles of social reform,
He used to say that the real knowledge is the Quran, and all the other sciences and arts are for understanding the Quran. Here in the cities there are big institutions and all kinds of facilities.
When you get tired of chasing facilities in life and your heart wishes to do some work for the religion, then go to the market, buy ten or twenty Noorani Qaidas, and go toward your ancestral village area. There will be many children there who will need the basics of the religion. Begin the process of educating those children with the Noorani Qaidas you bought
This is work of a higher rank than becoming a Shaykh al-Hadith or a Shaykh al-Quran.
Today, six years after graduating from Darul Uloom, I met Mufti Zafar Abrar Sahib. I asked: What are you doing these days?
He said: We have a small village in Noshki, and I am teaching the children there the Noorani Qaida.
He said: When I graduated, I got the opportunity to teach at a renowned madrasa in Karachi. I taught for a whole year, with an excellent salary and good facilities. When I went to the village during the annual holidays, I became restless seeing the deteriorated religious condition of my own children.
I bought Noorani Qaidas and rented a house. Today is the fourth year. Every year a large number of Huffaz-e-Kiram (Quran memorizers) are produced from our village, and some grades of Dars-e-Nizami have also begun.
It is not necessary that a revolution be brought about only in collective form; some individuals are a revolution in themselves.
Maulana Zafar Abrar Sahib is one of them.
