A Maulana narrates his own anecdote:

"During the era of undivided India, I used to visit Delhi frequently. Once, I attended a gathering where I was introduced to a religious scholar (Mawlvi) from Delhi. In the promotional posters, the people of Delhi had written the title 'Sher-e-Punjab' (The Lion of Punjab) with my name, and 'Fakhr-e-Dehli' (The Pride of Delhi) with that Mawlvi Sahib's name...

All the friends were sitting together in a gathering, and the poster was right in front of us. The Delhite Mawlvi Sahib jokingly said:

'Maulana! If the letter "Yaa" (ی) is removed from Sher-e-Punjab, what will be left?'

(His witty implication was that removing 'Yaa' from 'Sher' turns it into 'Shar', which means 'mischief/evil of Punjab').

I replied:

'And Maulana! If the letter "Fe" (ف) is removed from the "Fakhr" of Fakhr-e-Dehli, what will be left then?'

(What remains is 'Khar', and 'Khar' means a donkey in Persian).

The audience thoroughly enjoyed this witty exchange.

A gentleman present there, who was also a poet—and that too from Delhi—said with great poise and seriousness:

'Respected elders! Do not drop these letters "Yaa" (ی) and "Fe" (ف); rather, put them to use:

Give the "Yaa" of Sher (Lion) to this Maulana, so he can place it in the middle of "Khar" (Donkey) to attain "Khair" (Goodness/Well-being). And you take the "Fe" of Fakhr (Pride), so you can place it before "Shar" (Mischief) to attain "Sharaf" (Honor/Nobility).'"

The timely and appropriate use of words is indeed a beautiful art, and the one who knows this art is truly highly skilled!

Faith-Inspiring Dialogue of Hazrat Rib'i bin Aamir (RA) with Rustam 🔸

Faith-Inspiring Dialogue of Hazrat Rib'i bin Aamir (RA) with Rustam 🔸

Under the leadership and command of Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (RA), an army went to fight against the Persians. The commander of the Persian army was the world-renowned wrestler and brave man "Rustam". At Rustam's request, Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (RA) sent Hazrat Rib'i bin Aamir (RA) to converse with him. The Persians had lavishly decorated Rustam's court, adorning it with silk and brocade cushions, excellent carpets, gold and silver objects, and other elements of embellishment. Hazrat Rib'i bin Aamir (RA), riding a horse, fully armed, and dressed in torn and old clothes, arrived at Rustam's court with such majesty that a drawn sword was in his hand. A carpet was laid out in Rustam's court; he started to enter while riding his horse over it. The men of the wrestler Rustam stopped him and said that at least he should sheathe his sword. Hazrat Rib'i bin Aamir (RA) said, "I have come at your invitation, not by my own choice and desire. If you do not let me come like this, I will return." When Rustam saw this, he told his people to let him come in that very condition. Thus, he reached Rustam with the same majesty, and the carpet was torn in places from being struck by the tip of the sword. Rustam asked, "What do you people want?" Hazrat Rib'i bin Aamir (RA) gave such an answer that will remain matchless forever. He said: "Allah ibta'athana linukhrija man sha'a min 'ibadatil-'ibad ila 'ibadatillah, wa min diqid-dunya ila sa'atiha, wa min jawril-adyani ila 'adlil-Islam." (Allah has sent us so that we may bring whomsoever Allah wills out of the servitude of people to the servitude of Allah, and out of the narrowness of the world to its vastness, and out of the oppression of different religions to the justice and equity of Islam.) (Tarikh al-Tabari: 2/401, Al-Bidaya wa al-Nihaya: 8/39). This incident magnificently demonstrates the lack of interest and fearlessness of the individuals of the Islamic society towards the manifestations of the universe, the allurements of the world, and material powers. This is the very thing that pulls the Islamic society out of disbelief and polytheism, and grants spiritual and faithful power against satanic and tyrannical forces. _____📝📝📝_____ Copied.
