If it is written on some tent "The Tent of Layla," but when one peeps inside, a dog is tied there, then that tent will lose its value; rather, people will make fun of it. Similarly, a Mawlvi (religious scholar) is one who belongs to Mawla (Allah). From the tent of his litter (abode), the fragrance of Mawla should be found—meaning, in his company, the fragrance of Allah's love should be felt; from his company, love for Allah should be born and love for the world should leave the heart. Accordingly, the scholars who belong to Allah, the whole world becomes intoxicated by their fragrance. It is through such God-conscious scholars that religion has spread, and all our elders are examples of this. However, those scholars who remain indifferent to the people of Allah and do not efface their own ego, and the public comes to them considering them men of God, but when they see that in their tent, the dog of love for the world (Hubb-e-Dunya) and love for status (Hubb-e-Jah) is tied and Mawla is absent, they become highly disappointed. Nowadays, the lack of respect for the people of knowledge is due to this very reason; otherwise, the creation is still devoted even today to those scholars who have been blessed with the company of the friends of Allah.

The Evil End of Arrogance

The Evil End of Arrogance

Yazid bin Malik was an Umayyad Caliph; he was a new caliph who came after Umar bin Abdul Aziz (R.A). One day he said, "Who says kings are not blessed with happiness...? I will show by spending today with absolute happiness, now let's see who stops me...?" It was said to him, "Nowadays rebellions are taking place, this is happening, that is happening, so it will cause trouble." He replied, "Today, no national news should be told to me, even if the biggest rebellion occurs, I do not want to hear any news. I want to spend today with happiness." He had a very beautiful slave-girl whose beauty was unmatched, named Hubabah. He loved her more than his wives. Taking her along, he entered the palace. Fruits arrived, drinks arrived, things arrived; they wanted to spend the day happily. Less than half the day had passed, he was holding Hubabah in his lap, laughing and joking with her, and plucking grapes with his own hand to feed her. He took a grape and put it in her mouth. She laughed at something, and that grape went straight into her windpipe and got stuck, and with a sudden jerk, her life departed. The day he wanted to spend with the greatest happiness became the worst day of his life, such that he went mad and insane. For three days he did not allow her to be buried, until her body rotted and decomposed. By force, the leaders of Bani Umayyah snatched her body and buried it, and two weeks later, he died in madness. Such is the end of arrogance. (Bikhray Moti: 5-256, on the authority of Hayat-ul-Hayawan) _____________📝📝_____________ Narrated. Selection: Islamic Tube Pro App
