*A bouquet of lesson-bearing true incidents of Hazrat Maulana Qari Sayyid Siddiq Ahmad Sahib Bandwi (Rahmatullah Alaih)*
*Concern for serving humanity and guests even during severe illness*
Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya Sahib Sambhali states: Once during the harsh winter season at 10:00 PM, a student came to my house, which was located inside the madrasah, and informed me that Hazrat had a fever, was shivering severely from the cold, was lying in the mosque, and was groaning loudly. I knew that he had returned from a journey a short while ago after the Isha prayer, and we hadn't met yet. I could not understand what to do at that time. I was certain that Hazrat must also be hungry, so as a temporary measure, I made egg halwa and some good tea, and took it hot to Hazrat's service. I offered Salaam; Hazrat replied to the Salaam from inside the quilt. His condition was still the same as described by the student. It was difficult to speak due to the cold, and the fever was quite high. I requested, "Hazrat, please drink the tea, it will reduce the cold a bit." He replied, "Such-and-such guest from Kanpur has come with me and is staying in the room, please give it to him." I said, "I will give it to him as well, please drink it yourself." With great difficulty, he took a little tea and halwa.
Dr. Ghaus Ahmad Sahib writes an incident in his article: On one occasion, when Hazrat had severe back pain, we convinced him to stay at a nursing home with the thought that a few days of rest and treatment would, Insha Allah, be beneficial. Efforts were made to provide maximum rest and keep Hazrat away from the crowds of people for a few days. This was not explicitly stated, but Hazrat sensed it. One day, when someone was being stopped, he overheard it, called me, and said, "Doctor Sahib! Do not stop anyone. Just as I am in pain, others could also be in pain. May Allah Almighty remove everyone's troubles. People come to me, this too is Allah's wisdom; let them come, it is possible that through the blessings of those who come and request prayers, I may find relief."
