Cape Town: Devastating floods caused by heavy rains and snowfall in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province have killed at least 50 people. The region has been hit hard by the cold, causing widespread destruction. Provincial Chief Minister’s Statement Eastern Cape Chief Minister Oscar Mbuyane said, “Police have confirmed the deaths. The dead include six students who were swept away by floodwaters near a river on Tuesday. Four others are still missing.” He added that the floods have caused extensive damage to homes and vehicles.
