Ahmedabad: In a heartbreaking incident, an Air India flight (AI-171) bound for London crashed just two minutes after take-off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport. The plane, which took off at 1:38 pm on June 12, 2025, crashed at 1:40 pm in the IGB compound near Ghora Camp in Meghana Nagar. According to initial reports, the rear of the plane hit a tree, and a technical fault also caused the accident. Deaths and injuries There were 242 passengers on board, including 169 Indians, 53 Britons, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian. More than 50 people, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, died in the accident, including 8 doctors. 25 to 30 bodies were recovered in a burnt state.
