Once, you went to the graveyard with the funeral of one of your relatives. Upon reaching the graveyard, you went and sat down in an isolated spot and began to think about something. Someone submitted: "O Commander of the Faithful (Amir al-Mu'minin)! You were the guardian (Wali) of this funeral, yet you sat apart?" He replied: "Yes! A grave called out to me and said: 'O Umar bin Abdul Aziz! Why do you not ask me how I treat those who come to me?' I said: 'Do tell me.'"

It said: "When they enter inside me, I tear up their shrouds, I cut their bodies into pieces, I suck all their blood, and I eat away their flesh. And shall I tell you what I do with the joints of a man? I separate the shoulders from the arms, the arms from the wrists, the hips from the body, the thighs from the hips, the knees from the thighs, the shins from the knees, and the feet from the shins."

Saying this, Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) began to weep and said: "The stay in this world is very short, and its deception is immense. He who is honored in it is humiliated in the Hereafter; he who is wealthy in it is a pauper in the Hereafter; and its youth will grow old very quickly."
