Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has made a controversial statement on the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which has created a political stir. He said that Pakistan's role in the attack has not been proven and the international community has not accepted it. "We sent our delegation to 33 countries, but neither the UN, nor the US, nor any other country has blamed Pakistan for this attack. We have no concrete evidence that this attack was a conspiracy or an act of Pakistani agencies," Aiyar said. Aiyar also criticized Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, who supports Operation Sindoor. He said that the visits of Tharoor and his delegation have not confirmed Pakistan's role. BJP's strong reaction The BJP has strongly criticized Aiyar's statement. Spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla said, "Congress may not be aware that the UN Security Council report has expressed concern about the role of TRF, a branch of Lashkar-e-Taiba, in this attack. Terrorism has its roots in Pakistan, be it Lashkar or Jaish. In Operation Sindoor We destroyed their hideouts, but Congress is insulting our army by defending Pakistan." Another BJP spokesperson CR Keshav said, "Congress has become the biggest supporter of Pakistan and its agenda is to promote anti-India propaganda, which is shameful."
