A powerful explosion on the railway track in Soomro Wah, a suburb of Sultan Kot in Shikarpur district of Sindh, caused panic, where four bogies of the Jaffar Express, which was going from Peshawar to Quetta, derailed. Four passengers were injured in the tragic accident, but fortunately there were no casualties. Police and Rangers immediately cordoned off the area, while railway traffic was temporarily suspended. Details of the accident The accident occurred on October 6, 2025, at around 6 pm, when the Jaffar Express was heading from Sultan Kot to Jacobabad. The intensity of the explosion was so severe that four bogies of the train derailed, causing a stampede among the passengers. The injured were given immediate medical assistance, and the railway authorities arranged for alternative trains. According to the police, the explosion was caused by explosives planted under the railway track, which is likely the result of a terrorist act. Eyewitnesses said that ‘the train started shaking as soon as the explosion was heard, and the bogies separated from the track.’ Passengers started screaming, but there was no major damage. Railway authorities have suspended train services between Quetta and other cities until October 14. The service was suspended, and passengers were assured of a full refund.
