In Mock Parliament, INDIA Bloc Unanimously Passes Symbolic Impeachment Motion Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar: Kharge, Rahul Gandhi Levell Serious Allegations

Raising questions over Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar's impartiality, the INDIA alliance organized a 'Mock Parliament' on Saturday. During the session, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge introduced a motion to remove Gyanesh Kumar from office, which was passed unanimously. This was a symbolic exercise with no constitutional validity. Kharge and Rahul Gandhi leveled several serious allegations against the CEC.

Key Allegations by Kharge

Gyanesh Kumar altered Form-6 without parliamentary approval, an act Kharge characterized as a criminal offense.

Alongside "vote theft" in elections, 132 million voters were removed from electoral rolls via the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The lifetime legal immunity granted to the CEC by the Narendra Modi and Amit Shah government in December 2023 was intended to shield alleged criminal actions.

Consequently, he should be removed from his post immediately.

Demand for Treason Charges

Kharge stated that MPs of the INDIA alliance—who he claimed represent over 60% of the nation's population—along with citizens gathered in New Delhi on October 31, 2026, resolved that Gyanesh Kumar should face treason charges under the legal framework of the Constitution.

"Overnight Announcement of SIR"

Kharge alleged that the Election Commission announced and implemented the SIR overnight across the country, primarily aimed at removing votes of opposition supporters. He asserted that the Modi government is using the pretext of "outsiders and infiltrators" to cover up its failures, adding that the opposition is not trying to include infiltrators, but is advocating to protect the rights of genuine, legitimate voters on the list.

Note: All statements above represent the allegations and positions of the opposition. The Election Commission has consistently rejected such charges in the past.
