Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a counterattack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, challenging him to an open debate. This response came following the Prime Minister's allegation hinting that the opposition was seeking foreign help to destabilize the country.
What Did Rahul Gandhi Say?
In a post on X, Rahul wrote, "Modiji, stop lying to the country. You became Prime Minister with foreign help and remain Prime Minister through foreign help. Your economic system is completely under the control of foreigners and has their support. Foreign social media stands fully behind you."
He further challenged, "I challenge you to an open debate on this issue. Any platform, any time. Come if you have the courage. You won't come, because you are afraid of what I know about you."
What Allegations Did PM Modi Make on Saturday?
During his visit to Gujarat, Modi said that anti-India forces were trying to divide the country and that social media was being used to spread rumors.
"While the country is seeking solutions to external challenges, certain forces within the nation are creating instability by spreading lies and rumors. However, citizens have united to stand with the nation."
The opposition has transformed from an 'opposition party' (Virodh Paksh) into an 'obstructionist party' (Avarodh Paksh) and is creating hurdles in the path of development out of frustration.
The opposition is engaged in tearing apart the decorum of the Constitution.
Hinting at Rahul Gandhi's foreign trips, he said, "Who is secretly meeting whom abroad? Who are anti-India forces supporting? Who is speaking the language of India's enemies? We must recognize all these tactics."
