According to the report, Islam is not only the second largest religion in the world, but also the fastest growing religion. Between 2010 and 2020, the Muslim population increased by 21%, from 1.7 billion to 2 billion. The growth rate of the Muslim population, the report says, is double the global average (10%). The population of other religions increased by an average of 9.7%, while 26% of the total world population is Muslim, meaning one in four people is Muslim.
